Life has not been good since I returned from the States. I got sick, real bad, got swamped with the work (might have to send some of it back).
Right now i am just here to show my face, SHOUT at the top of my lungs, then return to the quiet life of me.

I just got back from a trip home. Stayed with mom for a short, then made a trip with friends to Washington. First thing first, it was too hot. The humidity was high, the buildings were to close together, it was terrible. We did not take any many pictures; have been there a lot in the past, and it was too hot.
The high points: 5 hours drive time, shopping (AC, we need that on the outside as well), and train rides. Oops, forgot time with mom.

Virb’s social has gotten the cold shoulder from the online community.
The youths and those in the know have flocked to facebook, twitter, fourquare, and youtube for their fix of the worlds content and the latest gossip.
So what have the folks at Virb decided to do with all that hardware and great thinkers. Well, they definately didn’t decide to sit on their hands. They realised the world was not going to give them sufficient attention with the current model, so you devise another.
Instead of trying to tackle the battle cruisers of the social, use them to drive traffic to a site the user creates to promote themselves. If you think that sounds familiar, is because it has been tried and tested by other battle cruisers; namely wordpress and blogspot. Why decide to go this route, I can’t say, but they have already taken a step off the deep end.
They have given up on the build it and they will come model and upped for the build, charge (small mothly fee) and try to garner a community response model. The latter does not work. The folks of the day will start off free and willingly pay for addons (which can amount to more than the small fee); take wordpress and facebook for instance.
So what do you think will come of this new attempt on life from Virb? Leave a comment, let’s hear your views on this topic.

Sorry I have been away for some time. What have I been doing? Well, setting up another small community for the Caribbean; TechTing.net.
We would like to become the goto blog for the region when it comes to news, reviews, the in the know section. Drop me a comment on that new venture, either here or on that site.
I have also been trying to get out more, but the work bug keeps holding me down. For the past few I have been hanging with Marcia, Felina, Catherina, Anton (Best Friend in the world) and other friends; well they are close enough to be considered friends. The spots; Club India, Ruby Tuesdays, TGI Fridays, Movietowne (Chaguanas of late).
The facebook trial is still ongoing, been there a lot this past week from the phone (Blackberry baby) and foursquare (the hotness). The next step would be a friend get together, hopefully most of the folks would be able to attend; some restaurant, maybe.
Well, the work is calling again. I will post another update soon, be on the look out.

Yesterday I went to see “The Losers” with my cousins; Mauriceia and Marcia; best friend; Anton; and Aaron.
We decided to visit the newly built cinema. I was told this cinema was not so hot, the entry was a food area is smaller, but it contained the necessary seating and large screens to make it an A+.
The movie, was MADDDDDDD. Sweet from beginning to end. Worth all the money we spent that night. I recommend it for a one or maybe two time visit to the cinema, but not a movie you want to keep for posterity. Go to the cinema and see it people, you get out of the house that way, meet and greet the other members of society

I have been using facebook for about two weeks now. As of now, I can’t say if the application is revolutionary, as all the updates I see on the “wall” are of people playing “Farmville” and some other games.
Now the real community may be behind these other applications, but do I dear enter into a world where I have to be on a website every single day, even worse multiple times in a day.
The community did help with setting up some fun outings and the planning of others. I wonder if it will lead to anything more; only time will tell.

The question: Is facebook for everyone?
After many long debates with friends, family members and total strangers, this question has been popping in and out of my head. Actually, it has been giving me a headache.
Over the next few weeks, I will take it as a challenge to experience this social community for all the link making capabilities it is capable of. The account I will create is obasigeorge, hope fully that is not taken.
You can become my fan for the period the account will be active. I will write a new post as the experiment continues.

It has finally come. The move from alpha to beta.
Development has been at a steady pace, and the new interface colors look fabulous. It seems somewhat faster than before, but that could be the doing of the hosting company and my oh so unreliable ISP; note to self, change to folks out soon.
Well, the alpha and beta have been playing fine with my assortment of plugins thus far, and I am looking forward to the release within the upcoming months. I just wish the MU svn would be updated just as often, I don’t mind being a guinea pig.

Another year rolls on and we are still listening to those sad, lonely songs. Actually while writing this I have “Blue October – Should Be Loved” banging away in the background; how ironic.
Well, that is all for feeling sad for ones self. Time to wash the car.

I have been doing a small run for the past two weeks and it seems to have displaced some of my stress. As people say, It does wonders for the soul.
In the near future, I will try to get some gym time in there as well. That future might be far off though.
