I just got back from a trip home. Stayed with mom for a short, then made a trip with friends to Washington. First thing first, it was too hot. The humidity was high, the buildings were to close together, it was terrible. We did not take any many pictures; have been there a lot in the past, and it was too hot.
The high points: 5 hours drive time, shopping (AC, we need that on the outside as well), and train rides. Oops, forgot time with mom.

Virb’s social has gotten the cold shoulder from the online community.
The youths and those in the know have flocked to facebook, twitter, fourquare, and youtube for their fix of the worlds content and the latest gossip.
So what have the folks at Virb decided to do with all that hardware and great thinkers. Well, they definately didn’t decide to sit on their hands. They realised the world was not going to give them sufficient attention with the current model, so you devise another.
Instead of trying to tackle the battle cruisers of the social, use them to drive traffic to a site the user creates to promote themselves. If you think that sounds familiar, is because it has been tried and tested by other battle cruisers; namely wordpress and blogspot. Why decide to go this route, I can’t say, but they have already taken a step off the deep end.
They have given up on the build it and they will come model and upped for the build, charge (small mothly fee) and try to garner a community response model. The latter does not work. The folks of the day will start off free and willingly pay for addons (which can amount to more than the small fee); take wordpress and facebook for instance.
So what do you think will come of this new attempt on life from Virb? Leave a comment, let’s hear your views on this topic.
